Jane’s Walks: Bridges and Banks of the Yarra River
Criss cross the Yarra River from Spencer St to Webb Bridge—a walk dense with river front history and change. Crossing the Yarra River has been an enduring challenge and a practical necessity in an ever growing city. Each bridge pushed shipping further downstream leaving river front land available for renewal. This process is ongoing and very much alive. The river banks are packed with maritime and industrial history as well as architectural interest.
About Jane’s Walks
Jane’s Walks is an international movement of citizen-led walking conversations inspired by urbanist Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about places, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect.
