Zone Manager

Lead and support volunteer teams across a designated zone, ensuring smooth operations and strong communication between sites.

Support the Zone Manager in coordinating volunteers and maintaining coverage across multiple sites within a zone.

Support visitors across the Festival by assisting with wayfinding, visitor flow, and information services, either at a building, across multiple sites, or at the Info Hub.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, brought together by a shared curiosity about the city and a desire to connect with people. If you’re open, engaged, and excited to be part of something collective, we’d love to have you join us.

To become a volunteer at Open House Melbourne, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Obtain or be willing to obtain a Volunteer Working with Children Check
  • Sign a Volunteer Agreement to commit to the values and policies of Open House Melbourne

  1. Explore the available volunteer roles
    Each position description will provide details about the skills, responsibilities, and time commitments for each role.
  2. Complete the registration form
    Once you’ve found a role that matches your interests, skills and availability, fill out the online registration or application form. You’ll receive a confirmation letting you know that we’ve received your application.
  3. Interview (if applicable)
    For Zone Manager + Assistant Zone Manager Roles, we will schedule a short interview to say hello and learn more about you. The interviews will take place at the start of June 2026. This is a great chance for you to ask any questions about the role and event.
  4. Join the team!
    We’ll be in touch to confirm your role and schedule and you will receive further information about training, shifts, and event details!
