Join us for a walking tour exploring the rich history of Footscray’s heritage theatres. Discover the former sites of the La Scala, Trocadero, Grand, and Barkly Theatres as we delve into their unique architectural styles, programming, and how they adapted - or disappeared - with the rise of television.

What's On

Come tour three of the remaining theatres of Footscray's CBD, plus the Trocadero, which is now a gallery space. On this tour you will learn about the unique architectural design of each theatre, the types of attractions they used to show, and how their uses changed over the years after the advent of television.

Presenters will include a member of the City of Maribyrnong's City Experience team along with members of the Footscray Historical Society and former projectionists who worked at the theatres.
