The Jewish Museum of Australia: Gandel Centre for Judaica has been located at 26 Alma Road for over 30 years in 2025. Nestled within the residential area of St Kilda, the building was originally an office block that was converted and extended to house the Museum and its collection of over 25,000 items.

At the museum, Jewish life is illuminated. At the intersection of art and Jewish culture, the museum is a place for all people to share in the Australian Jewish experience. Through a vibrant calendar of onsite and online exhibitions and events, the Jewish Museum is recognised as one of Australia’s leading community museums.

You can also go behind the scenes with our curator in an incredibly special presentation that will take you through the lifecycle of a museum object. Hear how we acquire objects, properly store and care for them and ultimately display objects to the public.

Children's Activities

The Children’s Space, with its changing exhibitions aligned to the Museum’s major shows, offers an accessible and age-appropriate entry point into the themes explored in our latest exhibition Chutzpah: Spirit. Recollection. Self. Through hands-on activities, children are invited to engage with Jewish art, history, and values in a way that encourages curiosity and creativity.

This season, young visitors can contribute to a collaborative art wall, adding their own creations inspired by the themes of identity and expression. The space also includes a selection of classic board games and playful activities, making it a welcoming environment for children to learn, connect, and have fun.
