Little Hall is an exemplar of modern managed student accommodation in central Melbourne. It offers 669 self-catered residential places across a variety of ‘apartment style’ studio, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom configurations and spread over 13 floors that incorporate extensive social and academic spaces designed to enhance opportunities for peer support, social and educational enrichment, and co- and extra-curricular learning.

The site makes full use of its location to the south of Lincoln Square through the placement of significant internal and external common areas that provide stunning outlooks across Lincoln Square and to the Parkville Campus beyond, as well as onto the surrounding historic laneways. The design and orientation of the building create a sympathetic dialogue between the square and the adjacent historic victorian-era commercial warehouses.

The architectural form is a contemporary response to the university college tradition of courtyard and cloister. Student common spaces and upper level rooms are arranged around a landscaped inner court yard, which leads off to shared facilities such as a small theatre and common room.
