Description

Monash Tech School is one of ten in Victoria delivered as high-tech centres of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. Completed in 2019, it enables secondary school students to partake in discovery and innovation programs using leading-edge technology to engage with real-world challenges.
The facility was designed by Brand Architects, in consultation with representatives from secondary schools, tertiary education, research, industry and community. Principles for a highly adaptive space that enables prototyping and trialling of programs and technology were developed and initially tested in a temporary facility before being finessed in this permanent location.
The Monash Tech is School is located on Level 1 in one of Monash’s oldest modernist buildings established in 1968. A considered modification of the façade was designed by Six Degrees Architects, allowing natural light in and generous views out while respecting the building’s architectural heritage.
The colourful and innovative interior introduces secondary-school students with enthusiasm and curiosity to the university campus environment. It can be accessed via the award-winning Learning and Teaching Building, an impressive experience in size, scale and innovation. Collaborative learning zones and breakout spaces reflect large format, tertiary spaces with integrated technology, and interactive AV experiences.
