In 2016, Foolscap Studio and Relative Projects ran a future workplace prototype in Melbourne exploring ‘new ways of working – outside the office’. This experiment explored emerging work-life formats such as coworking, hybrid work, social spaces and remote working, all reflecting the decentralisation of where and how we work. This early investigation was layered with insights into how biophilic spaces, real-time spatial sensors (the Internet of Things) and whole-of-life wellness are all converging to create not just new urban spaces, but an entirely new perspective on how work can strengthen experiences and connections in our lives.

Fast forward six years to 2022 and those speculative ideas have become the norm post Covid-19. We have seen a global reawakening around purpose at work and the importance of stronger connections to nature and community. Presenting short case studies, a panel of thought leaders will uncover how work has changed forever – beyond hybrid working across locations, and why this was a long time in the making.
