Northcote House

MA+Co 2022

Description

From behind an unassuming weatherboard facade, Northcote House interrogates the qualities of 'good housing’: spatially intriguing, respectful of the site, sustainable and affordable.

Simple, traditional construction and modest interiors become a gallery for the clients' collection of objects and art. Adaptable spaces accommodate the family's current lifestyle while also offering flexibility for future needs. The garden speaks directly to the home, uniquely ordered to offer each space light, air and greenery. The humble construction does not eschew detail, however, with details like marble thresholds and architraves, a stainless-steel kitchen and garden bath woven throughout the home.

What's On

The audience will be guided on a tour of Northcote House which will unpack the conceptual ambitions of the project (affordable, sustainable, sincere to the site and programmatically flexible), the delivery process and the outcome of what it is like to live in the project. Audience members will be freely able to engage in discussion about the project during the tour.
