Description

St Peter’s Eastern Hill is a diverse Anglo-Catholic community based in East Melbourne, Australia. Established in 1846, St Peter’s is the oldest Anglican parish church in Melbourne on its original site, and one of the handful of buildings in Melbourne which pre-date the gold rush of the 1850s.

Find out more about historic features including the font and memorials to Charles La Trobe and Sophie La Trobe; the John Pinney Bear memorial; the Venetian Last Supper mosaic purchased at the Great Exhibition of 1880, the historic linoleum lining on our centre aisle dating from 1892; two significant stained glass windows by Melbourne artist Napier Waller; the 12-panel iconostatis' numerous examples of bronze work by Melbourne sculptor Andor Mészáros; and wooden carvings by famous Melbourne artist Ola Cohn.
