ANZ's Gothic Bank and Verdon Chambers—Summer Fun(draisers)
+ Add to ItineraryDescription
Step inside one of Melbourne's most extraordinary architectural treasures with this intimate guided tour of the ANZ Gothic Bank and Verdon Chambers.
Opened in 1887 as the head office for the English, Scottish & Australian Bank, the Gothic Bank is widely regarded as one of Australia's finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture. Above the banking hall sit the Verdon Chambers once the residence of ES&A Bank Governor Sir George Verdon, with ten rooms of exquisitely preserved interiors, ornate details, and artworks.
Carefully restored by Foolscap Studio in collaboration with heritage consultants, restoration experts, joiners, and craftspeople, the building today hosts the ANZ Banking Museum and the Specialist Hub for all your banking needs. Visitors will discover original mosaics, 23-karat gold leaf stencilling, repurposed blackwood joinery, and bespoke pieces by local makers that bring new life to this historic site.
These exclusive tours to be held in December and January offer a rare opportunity to experience both the grandeur of the Gothic Bank and the private world of the Verdon Chambers, all while supporting Open House Melbourne.
Brought to you with the generous support of our friends and partners, our Summer Fun(draisers) offer new and special opportunities as well as returning crowd favourites. These intimate, limited capacity talks + tours will take you up close and behind-the-scenes with design experts, all the while making a valued contribution to Open House Melbourne.
