Breathe 2023

Description

Since Nightingale Housing’s inaugural project Nightingale 1 was completed in 2017, the Nightingale community has grown rapidly with more projects completed in Brunswick, Ballarat, Fremantle, Fairfield, Sydney and Adelaide. Nightingale Preston is our most recent project strategically located on the corner of Oakover Road and Railway Place West.

Designed by Breathe, the project is divided into three parts to acknowledge three aspects of local history. At ground floor, carbon-neutral brickwork is a nod to Preston’s residential past. The middle of the building features a precast fluted concrete façade and saw-tooth roofline referencing Preston’s industrial past. The building is then split in two creating a ‘green spine’ in the middle for vegetation to grow and to allow fresh air to circulate through the building, representing Preston’s drive for amenities in the way of parks and open spaces.

All Nightingale homes are fossil fuel-free, energy efficient, use recycled and locally-produced materials wherever possible, and encourage the use of green transport. They are intended to provide comfortable, healthy homes for people to live in long-term, not as a money-maker for investors.

What's On

Nightingale Housing will offer tours of Nightingale Preston, our most recently completed project, delivered in collaboration with MAB.
