Wyndham Law Courts Open Day

+ Add to Itinerary

Description

You're invited to explore the new Wyndham Law Courts before it opens to the public!

Discover its design and features at your own pace, from the natural light and greenery to the modern court rooms, hearing rooms and spaces in the Magistrates' Court, Children's Court and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Take part in hands-on and family-friendly activities, hear directly from the designers and artists behind the project, and meet court and tribunal staff and experts who work every day to administer justice to the local community.

Add to your experience with a guided tour led by Senior Principal Adam Pustola from Lyons Architects, the designers of the Wyndham Law Courts. This tour will dive into 'Design in Detail', exploring the building's people-centred design, the challenges of creating a modern court complex, and the ways the architecture reflects both the local landscape and the area's rich cultural history.

All offerings are free to the community but require bookings.

A food truck will be on site with tasty food and beverages available to purchase before or after your visit.

About the Wyndham Law Courts

The Wyndham Law Courts will be the largest court and tribunal complex outside Melbourne's CBD. People-centred and purpose-built to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community, Wyndham Law Courts will set a new, modern standard for the delivery of justice services in the western metropolitan region.

Opening in November 2025, the new facility features 13 courtrooms, four hearing rooms, three mediation suites, and a day custody centre.

Alongside these modern, fit-for purpose spaces and leading-edge technological support, the Court introduces a range of firsts for Victorian justice infrastructure: a Community Connections drop-in facility for multi-jurisdictional information and support, a Changing Places facility for people with disabilities, quiet rooms, and a café run by a not-for-profit independent charity.

The inclusive and accessible design prioritises user experience, safety, sustainability, and cultural responsiveness, with a dedicated Koori Courtroom and Boonwurrung language, culture and heritage deeply embedded in the site and surrounds.

Designed by Lyons Architects with cultural input from Greenaway Architects, built by Lendlease, landscape architecture by Rush Wright, and delivered by Court Services Victoria, the Courts reflect a therapeutic approach to justice.

Wyndham Law Courts Open Day is presented by Open House Melbourne and Court Services Victoria.
