Raise the Roof
+ Add to ItineraryDescription
Melbourne is the home of footy – but not everyone in our city has a home.
Discover a public photo display, brought to you by Melbourne Zero, that celebrates our city's love of AFL through the stories of footy fans who have experienced homelessness (or come close to it).
Behind each statistic about homelessness is a person with hopes and dreams, including seeing their team climb to the top of the ladder and win a flag. Someone who knows that footy is more than a game – it's about resilience and community. Through a shared love of football people in our city create a sense of identity and belonging.
This public display of photographic portraits featuring AFL fans, invites you to look past misconceptions about homelessness and consider the stories and resilience of people who experience it.
Just as we come together to make noise for our favourite teams, let's raise the roof to end homelessness.
What's On
This Melbourne Zero photo display launches over Open House Melbourne Weekend and will be featured along Birrarung Marr until late August. We encourage everyone to check out the portraits taken by Melbourne-based photographer Andrew Disprose and scan the QR codes to read the full stories.
Official Opening Event
Join us at the Greenline Hub for the official opening event, where you'll hear from people who were involved in creating the display and learn about what's being done to ensure everyone in our city has a home.
