Not seen in years, the BMI basement has been a site of great curiosity and will be open to the public to explore as it sits between its past and future lives. Once home to businesses accessed via stairs from Sturt street, the basement areas hold intriguing traces of the city’s history. After extensive restoration work around the rest of the building, the basement is up next in the BMIs ongoing revitalisation and role as a hub for Ballarat culture and stories.
