A Forest for Australia and Altona Treatment Plant
Description
When you think wastewater treatment, you probably don’t think of world-renowned art. In 1998, New York-based environmental artist Agnes Denes created A Forest for Australia at Greater Western Water’s Altona Treatment Plant. The land art, spanning eight acres, uses 3,700 trees to create five circular spirals.
What's On
Join us for a guided walking tour of the Altona Treatment Plant, followed by world-renowned land artist Agnes Denes’ work, A Forest for Australia.
This is a rare opportunity to explore the artwork and learn about its inspiration, early climate challenges and rejuvenation.
Discover the fascinating water treatment process, where engineers collaborate with friendly bacteria to sustainably process millions of litres of wastewater daily. This provides recycled water for industry and irrigation for green spaces.
Children's Activities
While the presentation is focused on adults, children over the age of twelve are welcome to join under supervision.
