Waterfront: Finding the River – Between the Bridges

Join this Jane’s Walk and wander the Yarra Birrarung (Birrarung) between Webb Bridge and Bolte Bridge, making and sharing observations along the way. Explore this stretch of urban waterfront renewal with close attention to its recent history and unfolding future. Get closer to the river in this place, to think about river health and governance.

About Jane’s Walk

Jane’s Walk sets out to inspire urban literacy and a community-based approach to city building. Citizen-led walking tours under the Jane’s Walk banner make space for anyone to observe, reflect, question and collectively reimagine the places where they live, work and play. The walks create the space for people to learn about aspects of their city, connect with strangers and share ideas. They highlight some of the challenges faced in major cities – including development, climate extremes and pressures on green space – and also explore how people positively influence and change the cities they love.

Janet Bolitho

Jane’s Walks are citizen-led walks held to honour the legacy of urbanist Jane Jacobs. In this walk, Janet Bolitho combines her love for the river and her deep interest in the future and past of Fishermans Bend. She writes about the changing places of the lower Yarra at Port Places.
