MacKenzie Quarters

Description

Built in 1877 and located in central Bendigo, in the heart of the Arts Precinct, the two adjoining buildings of MacKenzie Quarters originally stood as a school and school master’s residence. A sensitive restoration has embraced its 145 year old history in a contemporary context.
The old school hall offers a peek into the site’s history with original details such as wooden ceilings, arched windows and solid blackwood floors.
Originally the Deanery for the neighbouring school hall and referred to as ‘The Masters Residence’, 12 MacKenzie Street is a two storey red brick gothic revival style family home.
