A curved three-story building with a brick facade and elongated horizontal windows under a clear blue sky. It stands on a street corner with electrical wires crossing above.
A spacious interior lobby with a grey carpet, white walls, and a slanted grey ceiling with embedded lights. To the left, the wall displays the Aboriginal flag and the Pride flag.
A modern foyer with glossy floors, white walls, and a grey ceiling with recessed lighting. A reception desk sits at the forefront, and there's a sign for a courtroom in the background to the left.
An outdoor seating area with curved wooden benches along a winding path. A solitary figure sits reading, surrounded by brick walls and wooden paneling, under a clear sky casting soft shadows.

Neighbourhood Justice Centre

Percy Everett 1945, Lyons Architects 2006.

Description

Percy Everett designed the current building in 1945. In 2006, our interior was redesigned by Lyons Architects, creating a welcoming community space that reflects the centre’s therapeutic and restorative justice principles.

What's On

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC), Australia’s first and only community justice centre, integrates multiple justice services, including a multi-jurisdictional court and support services, all under one roof. Committed to therapeutic jurisprudence and community justice, NJC strives to reduce crime and recidivism in the Yarra community by addressing underlying issues and promoting strong community support. Visitors can tour the NJC to learn about its innovative justice approaches, see the building's unique design, and interact with expert staff. Visitors can also join in an all-ages art activity, and unwind at our social-enterprise café.

Children's Activities

During the day, there will be art activities for everyone, as part of our focus on community and emphasis on being a safe space for everyone.
