Presentation to Juries: Victorian Architecture Awards

Are you planning to engage an architect? Do you want to know more about how Victoria’s buildings are designed? Hear all about the past year’s architecture, straight from the architects themselves, before you read about it in the magazines and blogs.

As part of the 2018 Melbourne Design Week program, the Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Chapter will once again open their Presentation to Juries event to the public. Each year, the Australian Institute of Architects runs the Architecture Awards, recognising the most outstanding architecture in the country. An integral part of the awards process is the ‘Presentation to Juries’, where architects present their projects—usually in the form of succinct powerpoint presentations—to juries of their peers, who will ultimately decide the award winners.

You’ll have the opportunity to attend these presentations and learn all about the architecture of Victoria’s built environment. It’s a unique opportunity to mingle with the country’s top architectural talent, and to to better understand the processes behind creating great buildings.

The presentations will be held on 24 March at the award-winning Melbourne School of Design, and will cross 11 major categories. The presentations are strictly timed, and will address eight specific criteria, followed by a short Q&A with jurors.

“The Australian Institute of Architects Presentation to Juries offers contenders in the 2018 Victorian Architecture Awards an opportunity to address judges with their nominated projects,” the organisers explain. “Featuring some of Australia’s most prominent architects, the Australian Institute of Architects Presentation to Juries is a rare opportunity for the general public to learn about the influences behind some of Victoria’s most innovative buildings and follow the architectural process from concept to construction.”
