Southern Cross Station: Connecting the City
Grimshaw and Southern Cross Station invite you to a panel discussion about the evolution of Southern Cross Station, from deteriorating infrastructure with limited functionality to a dynamic transport hub that has become synonymous with Melbourne’s identity. In doing so, our panellists will investigate and reflect upon what design means for a city, and in turn, how the transformation of Southern Cross Station has influenced and enabled the evolution of the western reaches of the CBD as well as the adjoining Docklands precinct.
Looking forward, the discussion will also explore how Southern Cross Station may influence the future development of Melbourne. As the CBD and State’s largest transport hub, what role might the station play in the future design of our city? And what might this mean for the people of Melbourne and Victoria?
Panellists include:
- Jill Garner, Victorian Government Architect
- Colin Chanter or Matthew Howe, Southern Cross Station Pty Ltd
- Neil Stonell, Partner, Grimshaw
