St Mark's Anglican Church, Camberwell
Description
St Mark's Camberwell was designed by Rodney Alsop and built in 1927-28. It has a beautiful stained glass windows with some of Napier and Christian Waller's finest works. It also includes windows by Sir Ninian Comper and Joseph Stansfield. It has a simple, classic interior which highlights the beauty of the windows. It is also of historic significance due to its inclusion of a memorial chapel, the Warrior's Chapel of St George, that includes the original tablet and roll of honour dedicated to the men of the parish who lost their lives at war.
What's On
St Mark's will be open for people to walk through themselves, to look, to reflect and to find space to think. There will also be volunteers to give people a guided tour of the building and its significant features if they wish. As St Mark's was designed to be a place of music and worship, at varying times the organ will have an organist playing. We will also have a local community choir ReChoired performing at 2pm on Sunday. This will allow you to experience both the church as a place of architecture and a place of worship.
Children's Activities
There will also be an activity for children who come to participate in.
