Waterfront: Tavern Tuesday – Connecting People with Place

A weekly gathering and a fixture on the Lake Tyers calendar, Tavern Tuesday brings the local community together to discuss and share experiences that are shaping conversation about living sustainability and responsibly with the lake. For this Tavern Tuesday, we bring together the local people, ideas and issues that have shaped the Waterfront program on the Gippsland Lakes.

Dr Jessica Reeves and Dr Pat Bonney will present the Living Bung Yarnda project, an environmental monitoring program led by the Lake Tyers community. Whether youʼre a first-time visitor or a seasoned kayaker, Jess and Pat invite you to share your experience and reflections of the lake in a story-sharing session. Photo-Voice gives all of the community the opportunity to show, through photographs, what you value and are most concerned about in this special place.

Attendees who wish to participate in the Photo-Voice activity are encouraged to bring along three printed* photos each (max) in response to the questions below:

  • What do you love about Lake Tyers?
  • What are you most concerned about for Lake Tyers?

You are invited to share your story of these photos with the group.

*Please bring along copies of your photos printed out to easily share with the group.

Sharing stories and knowledge about living sustainably and responsibly with Lake Tyers.

The event is presented by Living Bung Yarnda project and School for unTourists, with support from Lake Tyers Coast Action and Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust, funded by Coastcare and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, facilitated by Federation University Australia. Waterfront is proudly presented by Centre for Architecture Victoria | Open House Melbourne, in partnership with DELWP and East Gippsland Shire Council. Waterfront is part of Melbourne Design Week 2021, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
