Town Hall Broadmeadows

Building Description

A culturally rich and much-loved civic building, the Town Hall Broadmeadows celebrates its past and present. Kerstin Thompson Architects’ skilful adaptive-reuse design puts form to the building’s memories. Providing a place for the community to come together once more, the adaptation of the building creates a new dialogue with the public in post-industrial ‘car manufacturing’ suburbia about retention, reimagining and reconnecting.
Imbued with a mix of civic, community and commercial uses, the building positions itself as building of the 21st century. It is a place for celebration (as it was previously) but also a place of new employment, skills and ideas.
Winner of the 2020 AIA Victorian Chapter Victorian Architecture Medal, 2020 AIA Victorian Chapter John George Knight Award for Heritage Architecture, 2020 AIA Victorian Chapter Public Architecture Commendation.
