Transformation of Central Melbourne for a More Resilient Future
Description
This will be a walking tour led by Rob Adams AM, ex-City Designer for the City of Melbourne. It will cover the key initiatives that have seen central Melbourne’s transformation since the 1980s to one of the world’s most liveable and sustainable cities. It will illustrate the incremental changes and projects that have allowed the city to deliver the five key ingredients of a good city: density, mixed use, connectivity, high quality public realm and local character.
What's On
This will be a guided tour of up to seven kilometres using individual headsets and utilising a combination of walking and trams. It will commence at the Queen Victoria Market and end at the Melbourne Town Hall. You should be able to walk at a reasonable pace and have a reasonable level of fitness as the area to be covered will require us to keep moving with only short stops at key sites. There will be a toilet break halfway.
