Description

The newly opened Seafarers precinct has transformed a historic stretch of North Wharf into an extraordinary destination for Melbourne. Developed by Melbourne-based Riverlee, the precinct is home to Australia's first 1 Hotel & Homes and Melbourne’s newest public riverfront park in more than 20 years.

At its heart stands the beautifully restored heritage-listed Goods Shed No. 5, which forms the ground floor hospitality base of 1 Hotel Melbourne. The precinct showcases sustainable design through the adaptive re-use of the good shed, with over 2,000 salvaged heritage items, 4,500 square metres of recycled timber and 7,000 plants.

Seafarers Rest, a 3,500-square-metre riverside park connecting directly to 1 Hotel Melbourne, blends contemporary landscape design with maritime artefacts and native planting.

This thoughtful precinct creates an urban sanctuary where visitors can experience both nature and Melbourne's maritime history as they move seamlessly from Seafarers Rest through the restored Goods Shed No. 5 and into 1 Hotel's luxury, nature-inspired hospitality spaces.
