Architectural Houses: Future Vision

The buildings we make today will still be standing in 2050 when environmental conditions will be more extreme. As professionals in the built environment it’s our obligation to step up to make positive change with long-sighted vision. We are designing for future conditions and future living standards. We’d like to share our vision with you. We are seeing mounting pressures with climate change, pandemics, social change – and many other triggers disrupting the status quo. We are on the path to a ‘new normal’. Opportunities and groups are coming together to lead this change, from local government to Architects Declare AU. Grassroots change is driving ‘alternative’ approaches into the mainstream, such as sustainable buildings, Passive House standard, small building footprints, and de-centralised off-grid housing. We look at a few of these and discuss how the future may shape up.

Architect Zoe Geyer from ZGA STUDIO and Matt Martin from Martin Brothers Building sit down and talk sustainable shifts in local housing and construction. We will touch on concepts of Living Buildings, Passive House, off-grid housing and prefabrication, as well as grassroots movements such as Architects Declare AU. There will be a live Q&A at the end of the discussion.
