Demolition Histories: Past, Present and Future
+ Add to ItineraryDescription
The University of Melbourne Parkville Campus has a history of cycles of demolition, rebuilding and demolition. Its current and forthcoming estate master plan presumes that many existing buildings will be demolished. The program will discuss the ethics of demolition and the prospects of building moratoriums given the climate emergency.
What's On
This program will be a walking tour of the campus that will indicate what has been demolished in the past, what is about to be demolished, and how the future campus may look. The tour will be supported by historical research, and attendees will be given a map that will help them envisage what has already been demolished.
