Description

Bundoora Homestead Art Centre is the public art gallery for the City of Darebin, on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. It is a centre for contemporary art and ideas with a public garden and café, housed in a Queen Anne-style mansion. The beautiful heritage-listed building is one of the few built in its style in the state of Victoria. Amongst other things, it boasts unique architectural pyrography, early ventilation systems and painted stained glass. Since its construction in 1899, the Homestead has served as a family home, repatriation hospital, and contemporary art gallery.

What's On

Join us for a unique guided experience to learn about the historic Bundoora Homestead Art Centre and the land on which it was built, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. Hear the stories that shaped this iconic Queen Anne-style mansion, from its construction as a private family home and stables, to its rebirth as a repatriation psychiatric hospital, and its final reimagining as a community art gallery. Following the tour, you are welcome to stay and wander through the gardens, explore the current art exhibition or enjoy some house-made scones and tea.

Children's Activities

Bundoora Homestead Art Centre welcomes families with regular children's events. We offer a drawing nook, family bookshelf and colouring sheets in the café, which also has a kid-friendly menu.
