Otter Place by Milieu: A New ‘Great Australian Dream’

+ Add to Itinerary

Presented by: Milieu

Description

At a time when our cities are undergoing rapid change to boost housing supply within established suburbs, Otter Place by Milieu, designed by Hassell and DesignOffice, provides the reassurance of good old-fashioned quality using elements of traditional construction to provide a unique living experience for its residents. Each home offers generosity of space, flexibility, amenity and access to nature, light and fresh air—a quietly confident new benchmark for quality urban living.

Otter Place by Milieu is a residential development of medium scale that aims to capture the unique energy of its vibrant locale. 28 design-driven residences, uniquely representative of their location in the heart of Collingwood’s eclectic and progressive Smith Street precinct, are now home to a diverse community of inner city dwellers. Residents have invested into a more urban lifestyle, therein reimagining the story of the ‘Great Australian Dream’ to one that is better aligned with Melbourne’s urban future.

Residents (including a diverse mix of downsizers, young families, young couples, LGBTQ+ community) share their stories of buying off the plan to chase their ideal of the great Australian dream of home ownership in conversation with the designers and developers of their new home.

What's On

You will hear from Jeremy Schluter, senior associate and co-leader (residential sector) of Hassell Studio together with Mark Simpson, co-director at DesignOffice. Michael McCormack, managing director of Milieu will moderate this conversation with the panel of designers and residents of Otter Place around their experience of urban living.

Join us in exploring the Otter Place development, including a level one apartment and the common areas; home to a diverse community of residents who are re-imagining the ‘Great Australian Dream’ through new housing models in established neighbourhoods.
