Raise the Roof
+ Add to ItineraryDescription
Melbourne is the home of footy – but not everyone in our city has a home.
Melbourne Zero presents an outdoor photo display that celebrates our city's love of AFL, through the stories of footy fans who have been at risk of or experienced homelessness.
Behind each statistic about homelessness is a person with hopes and dreams, including seeing their team climb to the top of the ladder and win a flag. Someone who knows that footy isn't just a game – it's about resilience, belonging and community.
Just as we come together to make noise for our teams, let's bring that same passion to making Melbourne truly home for all of us.
Together, let's raise the roof to end homelessness.
What's On
Launching during Open House Melbourne weekend, this public activation invites you to see the person, not the experience of homelessness.
Each portrait is accompanied by a link to the fan's story, accessible by scanning a QR code.
With photos displayed in the iconic Melbourne location of Birrarung Marr, the display will capture public attention – especially as people travel to and from games at the MCG – sparking meaningful conversations.
Thanks to our supporters City of Melbourne and The Greenline Project, Pixel, and Andrew Diprose.
