State Netball Hockey Centre
+ Add to ItineraryDescription
The State Netball Hockey Centre (SNHC) is the home of netball and hockey in Victoria, serving all levels of the sports from community competitions to high performance programs that are the pathways to professional and national teams. SNHC hosts more than 500,000 people each year for netball, hockey and other sports, with more than 80 percent of its users being female.Â
Nestled in the centre of the historic Royal Park precinct, SNHC opened as a combined netball and hockey venue in 2001 and underwent a major redevelopment that opened in 2021. It has two Astroturf outdoor hockey pitches with grandstands, an indoor hockey pitch, 11 netball courts including a 3,000-seat show court arena, and athlete performance centre for training and recovery. It is also the administrative base for Netball Victoria, Melbourne Vixens, Hockey Victoria, Hockey Australia, Sports Medicine Australia and the Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund, and features memorabilia honouring the history of both sports in Victoria.
What's On
SNHC’s operator, the State Sport Centres Trust, will conduct tours of the venue’s facilities, including those usually reserved for Melbourne Vixens. Visitors will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the planning and operations that go into delivering SNHC’s wide range of sporting events.Â
