The Arts Spine: the convergence of architecture and the arts, with Peter Maddison—Summer Fun(draisers)

+ Add to Itinerary

Description

Explore Melbourne's Art Spine on a guided walking tour tracing the powerful convergence of architecture, public space and the arts stretching from Federation Square through Southbank to the Malthouse and ACCA precinct.

Led by Open House Melbourne’s Ambassador and the original host of Grand Designs Australia, Peter Maddison together with Amy Muir, Director of MUIR, this immersive walk traces the cities evolving cultural landscape, unpacking the stories behind some of Melbourne's most significant civic and creative buildings. Along the way, you'll encounter landmark institutions including Fed Square, ACMI, the Arts Centre Melbourne, NGV International, Buxton Contemporary, Melbourne Theatre Company and ACCA, alongside contemporary public spaces and adaptive reuse projects that reveal how culture is shaped not just by what happens inside buildings, but by how cities are designed.

Brought to you with the generous support of our friends and partners, our Summer Fun(draisers) offer new and special opportunities as well as returning crowd favourites. These intimate, limited capacity talks + tours will take you up close and behind-the-scenes with design experts, all the while making a valued contribution to Open House Melbourne.
