Description

The Traralgon Water Treatment Plant has served customers living in Traralgon since 1982. It now provides water to around 28,000 customers.

The site sources water from Tyers River and Moondarra Reservoir. Up to 19 megalitres of water per day is treated before it is provided to customers and comes through their taps. The site is also home to a solar array, which means the site can be powered through renewable energy.

Visitors will see the full process, starting from when water first comes in from Moondarra through to the treatment process, which includes including removing dirt, microorganisms and bacteria from the water before filtering and disinfecting it.

Walking through the site, visitors can learn how Gippsland Water treats water to meet the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
