Waterfront: River (re) Route

While our captain highlights the ways Melbourne has been shaped by water-based urban design decisions, experts elaborate, diving deeper into the stories behind these changes. Part tour, part commentary battle, River (re) Route explores the many narratives of how we’ve shaped our urban waterways.

Speakers:

Kristin Otto
Author of Yarra: A Diverting History

Dr Mel Neave
Environmental geographer and Senior Lecturer at RMIT’s School of Global, Urban and Social Studies.
Mel has a PhD in fluvial geomorphology, which means understanding the relationship between water and land surfaces—specifically how water moves across and erodes landscapes.

Captain Dean Kelly
Dean will be your skipper and will not only steer us in the right direction, but provide you with his knowledge and insights from traversing the water each day.

Waterfront is presented by Open House Melbourne as part of Melbourne Design Week—an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
