Let's keep the doors open to good design

The State Government has significantly cut their investment in Victoria’s creative organisations.

At the end of last year, Open House Melbourne was advised that our four-year Creative Enterprises Program funding would be reduced to two years, with no option to extend. After 2027, we face a funding cliff.

For tens of thousands of Victorians, Open House Melbourne is the entry point to good design. We show you how well-designed buildings, streets, landscapes and public places shape daily life, strengthen community and create places people love. This work matters. For almost 20 years, we have helped build informed, engaged communities that can imagine and advocate for, a better future for our cities, towns and neighbourhoods.

Building understanding of good design is a long-term investment. It can’t be funded year-to-year, or event-by-event.

We are calling on the State Government to commit to long-term, stable investment in Open House Melbourne.

Long-term, stable investment will:

  • Enable us to plan ahead
  • Protect programs and experiences you love
  • Ensure stability for our staff and volunteers, the people who bring Open House Melbourne to life

Let’s keep the doors open to good design
