In early 2024, City of Melbourne consulted with the community to learn more about how they can better understand, communicate and interpret people’s heritage values. This feedback informed the Draft Melbourne Heritage Strategy: Stories of People and Place.

The Strategy sets a new direction, based on a broad, people-centred and city-wide approach to cultural heritage that outlines five priorities for their work on heritage:

  • Aboriginal heritage
  • Powerful experiences
  • Distinctive places
  • The climate and biodiversity emergency
  • Stewardship

During May and June, Open House Melbourne will host a number of panels and activations to engage with the community and provide feedback on the Draft Melbourne Heritage Strategy.

In partnership with City of Melbourne, Open House Melbourne is running consultation activities for the Draft Melbourne Heritage Strategy: Stories of People and Place.

Community members are also able to submit their feedback via an engagement survey open from 5 May to 15 June 2025 via City of Melbourne’s Participate website.
