Description

The Clocktower Centre is a vibrant performing arts venue in Moonee Ponds. Originally built in 1880 as the Essendon Town Hall, the building underwent a major transformation in the late 1990s. The centre’s iconic clock tower, a beloved local landmark, has stood tall for over a century, symbolising the area’s cultural and civic pride.

Inside, the venue boasts a contemporary theatre with a 505-seat capacity, rehearsal studio, children’s space, podcast studio, writers’ room, café, bar and meeting and functions rooms. The current interior retains elements of the original structure, including grand archways and heritage brickwork.

Beyond its architectural appeal, the Clocktower Centre serves as a cultural hub, hosting theatre, music and comedy events and more. Its transformation from a municipal hall to premier arts venue reflects Moonee Valley’s commitment to preserving history while embracing the future. Today, it remains a cherished destination where the past and present come together to inspire and entertain.
