Description

The Old Brown Coal Mine Museum showcases the living history of the former township of Brown Coal Mine (now Yallourn North), Yallourn, and the surrounding State Electricity Commission works area and open cut mine, including the Yallourn Power Station.

Displays include the Yallourn open cut no. 8 dredger cabin and the 6-megawatt turbine generator from the now-demolished Hazelwood Power Station.

Explore fascinating photographic memorabilia displays, paintings, clothing, homewares, tools and medals of the original township known, up until 1947, as Brown Coal Mine.

As part of this experience, the EnergyAustralia team will be running an information pop-up. Yallourn has helped power the lives of Australians for more than 100 years. EnergyAustralia's focus is on operating the mine and power station safely and reliably through to closure in mid-2028, while they plan for the site's future. Come along to learn more about the future of the site and the Yallourn Energy Security Precinct project.
