St George's East Ivanhoe
+ Add to ItineraryDescription
St. George’s Anglican Church in East Ivanhoe is one of only two Australian churches designed by Australia's most prominent architect, Robin Boyd. Completed in 1964, St George’s was part of Melbourne’s post-war church building boom, inspired by modernism and a less-traditional approach to ecclesiastical design.
Today, the church crypt has been transformed into an opportunity shop which serves the community and which contributes to a number of charitable organisations.
The whole property is attractively maintained inside and out by volunteers from the parish and the broader community.
What's On
Join a guided tour of the property and view documents and electronic displays of historical documents. There will also be a choral evensong to conclude the weekend.
Children's Activities
There will be colouring materials with a theme of the church's history and activities for children.
