Harpsdale Homestead

+ Add to Itinerary

Architect/Designer: John Augustus Bernard Koch 1875

Description

Harpsdale is an historic pastoral homestead dating from 1875, with stabling from 1883 and other outbuildings from that era. The architect, John Augustus Bernard Koch, was one of Melbourne's most prolific designers from the late nineteenth century.

See remains of what farming was like in the 1950s, including old machinery and shearing shed. The site includes well-established gardens with trees dating from when the homestead was built. The garden can be explored with the aid of information boards attached to points of interest.

There will be guided tours and talks about the homestead and the family who built it plus the family who have looked after the homestead for the last 85 years.

You can also enjoy a self-guided tour of the grounds and machinery yard and shearing shed.
