The discussion brought together Professor Julie Willis, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne, and Dr David Bramley, anaesthetist, and Medical Lead for the Footscray Hospital redevelopment.
Hosted by Geoffrey Kaye Museum of Anaesthetic History’s Museum Curator Veronica Dominiak, the conversation considered how the design of healthcare environments can contribute to safety, dignity, wellbeing and quality of care.
The panel was presented as part of Open House Melbourne 2026: Generous City, which explored how design, creativity and architecture can create spaces for openness, care and possibility.
